This Danzig label must have been issued by a tourist bureau or
travel agency since the German Reiseziel loosely
translates as Vacation Destination

Wonder what year? Definitely post WWI.

Absolutely Jeff,
a lovely cinderella.
I would hazard a guess as a poster stamp circa 1935.

Photogravure stamps were first used in 1914
although this method was used for reproducing drawings
from the late middle ages.
Albrecht Durer used it once or twice, using iron plates.

Rod, are you certain that this label was printed via photogravure?

Even though it has the screening characteristics of photogravure it
doesn't have the look of photogravure. Could it have been printed
offset?

Photogravure printing was considerable more expensive than offset.
Why waste it on a label?

No Litho, just a guess,
I am open to correction,
the small dots, I always assume photolitho
and later rotogravure.

How does offset differ please

These two Canadian stamps from 1968 also have some shading composed
of dots but both are offset printed or lithography as Canada Post calls it.
Lithography is still the term used by Canada Post for recent Canadian stamps even though
on close inspection they have very fine screening
which makes them appear as done by photogravure.
I suppose the modern term is photolithography which combines
the two techniques.

Thanks, Jhlovell!

Rod & lithograving - I can make a more detailed scan of the cinderella, if you would like to determinate this detail.

Hi filipo,

Yes I wouldn't mind seeing a closeup of lets say
the lower right area including the church and possibly
the black border to see if it does have the characteristics
of photogravure.

I would have said the cinderella is photogravure.

In the interest of debate, I think photogravure came later.
This cinderella seems to be like early newsprint or "halftone"
