Glad you like.
Simple to do, actually.
1 - go to www.re-entries.com
2 - find a nice image (preferably from one of the proof sheets, as they are clear and have no cancellations)
3 - save the image and import into a graphics program
4 - lighten (contrast and brightness) so it's washed out as above
5 - Print in a size about 3x4"
6 - take out a pen/fine marker and mark the re-entries
7 - scan back in to the computer.
8 - Drop a white box in the center for the stamp
9 - put on the album page.
(if you'd not doing page layouts on the computer, you can glue a piece of white paper to the center of the printout and then attach the whole thing to an album page with your stamp mounted in the center). You might want to print on heavier card stock if you're going to do it this way).

Enjoy.
C.

oh yeah - you can also do this with any stamp - just find a good quality scan of a mint stamp or proof, convert it to grayscale and lighten, and then you have a template you can use for anything you want to note. US collectors of the 1851/57 issues used this a lot for the plate markings that allowed the stamps to be plated. As an example, see the Neinken book on the 1c 1851 issue that is now available as a .pdf file on the USPCS website ( www.uspcs.org ). Each plate position has a diagram such as this pointing out the key plate markings for that position.

chipq, yes that is what I meant.
Looks much better/cleaner (easy to see the re-entry).

Making some progress on the Admiral Coils: Two to go and one overprint on this page. The number 124 is a tough one to find with good perfs!

(especially when you actually have to BUY it - with your own money and stuff!)

Nice admirals!
I can't recall, are you collecting NH or simply Mint?

The vast majority of my Canada collection is NH, but I'm not collecting as an investment. I tend to place more emphasis on the front of the stamp than the back. Also, I would rather fill a hole with a perfectly centered lightly cancelled used stamp than leave it empty while I wait on a chance to "steal" a MNH copy - since those opportunities are few and far between. Most of my two-digit catalog numbers are used, I have about half of the Vickie jubilees in mint-hinged as well as the Quebec set. The Admirals are kind of on the cusp of where I stop putting used into my album - I think I only have three: 112, 116, 122 - whoops, four - and 120 that are used. After that, I think only the 159 and a couple of the high-value Officials are used.

The #123 above is also used, with only the slightest hint of a cancel on the top perfs. While I'm shopping around for the #124, I will be looking one with intact perfs that is well-centered. As long as it isn't obliterated by a dark cancel, I would probably accept another used copy in that hole. To me, those are much more important features than the condition of the gum.

...just my opinion.

... and then there was one! One left until I complete the set, that is. I picked up this Canada 64 this past weekend. The centering is just shy of terrible, but the light cancellation is a rarity! All I have left is the 63!
