Love your MNH stamps and really feel bad for you that you damaged your #261 stamp. It took me quite awhile to get mine with very nice centering and I would hate to have anything happen to it.

Havn't visited these in while to droool. Maybe just for the sake of keeping things right you should let me have the 159 and the 261 just so they don't blemish the rest. Where are the large queens ? They gotta be hiding somewhere. On a serious note if you run across any super deals on a half penny or 3d with perfs let me know.

I knew I would be called out eventually :)

I didn't post them because I'm not happy with the quality. I did, however, purchase a 29b that has yet to arrive. I'll post that pic first.

Canada 29b. XF used. Perfs questionable on right side. Does this look reperfed?

Here's the rest of my queens ...

Mint, hinged small queens.

MNH Jumbo Small queen. These are surprisingly common.

I figured it was time to update this thread. I've added quite a few items over the past few weeks, but I'll stick to the highlights.

First off is a collection of no gum (NG) examples of small queens, large queens, and a #19. These will fill quite a few holes in my mint collection and at a very good price!

Scott 122 Mint, Never Hinged. F/VF with jumbo margins.

Scott 217-226, 241, 243-44 Mint, Never Hinged. I have MNH copies of the last three stamps, but look forward to placing the 244 from this lot in my album and placing the plate margin single back into a stockbook.

Scott 59, 95, and 227 Mint, hinged. Although I'm collecting MNH for my 20th century stamps, I couldn't pass this lot up for $40. I do not have a mint 227 or 59 (20c Jubilee). The Jube has one, short perf, but will fill in nicely.

Finally, is a 155 VFNH block of 4 I picked up for a song, this weekend.

More pictures to come!

Brian

What albums do you recommend to put these in that already have hingeless mounts? I'm just about to look at purchasing a canuck album, preferably with extensive BOB if possible..

I collect classic worldwide before 1940, but Canada is still one of my favorite countries. I am missing the Bluenose.

Lighthouse is one of my favorite albums. I bought mine off ebay several years ago. I think I originally paid ~$200 for mine and it contained $50-$60 face in modern, mint stamps.

I've seen the volumes put together in more than one way, but I bought a single volume that goes from 1850 to 1985, including BoB EXCEPT provinces. The provinces are divided into two separate supplements ... Newfoundland in one volume, and the remaining provinces in another.

I just picked up the Newfoundland pages a couple of weeks ago.

A quick check of ebay didn't turn up any Lighthouse albums, but they are frequently listed for about half retail and usually with stamps in them.

Good luck!

Stumbled across this thread by accident and decided to throw in my 2 cents worth. Have been collecting for more decades than I care to remember (on and off like most). Started young with Scott International. Have tried a multitude of different albums over the years including Lindner, Kabe, White Ace, Scott, Lighthouse, Davo, and even the Canadian Unity. Got rid of most. For me the worst were Lindner (didn't like the sleeve approach), Unity (the 3 ring binders turned out to be a pain in the posterior!), Davo (agree with previous post on this). In the end for classic organization and beauty, my personal opinion is that the Scott Specialized is hard to beat. Agree that mounting can be a pain, but the look and feel to me is worth it. How can you argue with this: http://members.cox.net/freedomfinan.../jubilee.jpg For newer issues, I agree that Lighthouse is one of the best for ease of use and durability.

By the way, for the gent above who tonged the stamp - don't feel bad. Some months back I had a nice classic Gambia issue in the process of mounting (I use Scott/Prinz mounts). It was in the cutter when the phone rang. As I turned to answer the phone the mount slipped and my elbow hit the cutting arm. Sliced that little sucker right in half. Boy did I feel stupid!!

Ouch! Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy when it comes to preservation!

As for the 261 ... I'm still looking for a replacement. I will likely find one in another small collection or set like this one came in. I just hate paying retail for anything ...

Edit: 10/17/11

While looking for a 261 to replace the one I damaged, I found this MNH block of 4 this past weekend and purchased it for $27.50 (less than catalogue value for one stamp). I still want a single, though ...

Added a few upgrades over the past month that I thought I'd share.

59, VFH .20 Jubilee that is a nice upgrade over my existing stamp. Paid $40

101, VFNH? There's always the threat of a regum on these, but I know I can return this is it's not authentic gum. Paid $45

Sometimes it's the simple things that make your day. A common definitive, this 107 is XFNH. Catalogues for $90 in VFNH. Paid $10.50!

132, VFNH.

WOW. I'm green with envy over all these -->

My early Canada is lacking, to say the least.
