Well, since you asked.
Picked these up last night at our stamp club auction.
#23...postmarked December 13 (yesterdays date) 1869 at Aylmer UC.

...and an F2b registered letter stamp.

The seller described this one as 'mint with no gum' (which to me is an oxymoron) but I think I detect a hint of a cancel at the bottom.

As for your stamps, koala, I certainly feel they'd qualify as classic. Very nice collection. Are they all mint (with gum)? I especially like you part perforate coil pair (1c Admiral).
Shame they're cluttering up your space.

A set I'm slowly (Very slowly) working on is the scroll set. Good centering on this series is difficult to find but well worth the wait as it's a beautiful set.

I would like opinions on the stamps with chads hanging off the perforations (1c, 6c, & 12.5c) ... should I remove the chads?

Unless you can bend the chad back and forth and it falls off on its own, I wouldn't risk it. The reason they haven't come off on their own is because at some point the puncture hasn't gone all the way through the paper. You run the risk of pulling off a portion of the perf tooth when you try to remove the little disk.

Thanks, Ryan. I suppose that if they haven't fallen off after 150 years, they are unlikely to do so now.

Stallzer, Great items. Canada KGVs can be a real challenge!

Koalastamps, those definitely qualify as classic era. Anything prior to WWII are considered classic. Nice stamps!

Cheers!

My recent acquisition, 3p beaver on thin paper, No. 4d. This is as close to a No. 1 that I will ever get (thanks DjD ).

Thanks for that tip Gilles. The stamp does look similar to the examples shown on http://www.re-entries.com/pence_three_pence.html, especially the lower left frameline.

I will do a high resolution scan.

Lower left and upper right which would make sense- although the right side looks somewhat like a slip of sorts it is probably due to the entry. If it matches with Ralphs site you could probably sell it and afford to get a #1 on laid. Been seeing alot of 1 thru 10's lately and not all that crazy prices. Well my crazy price point has jumped lately so I could be losin it.

I scanned my 3p beaver at 1200dpi and here are some bits and pieces, pretty well confirming that it is a position B42 major re-entry.

Here is an example from the Re-Entry website:

My example was obviously printed from the plate in a worn state, it is not nearly as sharp as the above stamp. Or perhaps the fact it is on very thin paper causes the worn look.

Awesome BeeSee- Nice having a re entry and nicer that it was unexpected. Should send Ralph the 1200dpi scans and mention its on thin paper , he may add the example to show variables but either way he is a great guy and passionate about his craft.

I have received the following answer from Ralph at www.re-entries.com

Yes, your stamp is certainly B42, but Idon't believe it is a worn plate. I would say the sheet of paper was overly damp when printed, causing the blurry effect you see on the stamp. This would be further accentuated by the fact it is on thin paper.

This is somewhat the opposite of a dry print, wherein the paper was allowed to dry out a little too much, resulting in white patches where the ink did not adhere to the dry paper properly. Here, the wet ink on the damp paper resulted in an overly sloppy print.

Here's another of the re-entries - Position A34 (its Unitrade Catalog number 4vi)

Note the doubling of the lower 3s and under the EE PENCE
