Olha Yulianivna Kobylianska (1863-1942) was a Ukrainian modernist writer and feminist noted for her novels about the lives of the Ukrainian peasantry, and the impressionistic, lyrical descriptions of nature and subtle psychological portrayals in her literary works. Herzen's autobiography, My Past and Thoughts, is widely considered the best specimen of that genre in Russian literature.
