Australia Football World Cup May 9, 2006 The 2006 FIFA World Cup championship tournament was held from June 9 to July 9, 2006 in Germany. Australia qualified for the first time since 1974. The souvenir sheet takes the form of a football and contains four commemorative stamps.  |

Mexico World Cup Soccer - Argentina 1978 June 1, 1978 The 1978 FIFA World Cup, the 11th quadrennial international football world championship, was held in Argentina between June 1 and 25. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament. Argentina won the championship by a 3:1 victory over the Netherlands.  |
