It's FIFA World Cup time again. Are there any soccer fans/philatelists still out there? Here is an image of a stamp depicting soccer players, designed by Czech artist Anna Podzemná-Suchardová (1909-1991), engraved by Jirí Antonín Švengsbír, and issued by Czechoslovakia on September 2, 1964 as one of a set of six stamps publicizing the 18th Olympic Games, held in Tokyo, Japan, Scott No. 1260. - nethryk |

This partly demolished soccer postcard has been in my possession for some years and I have not been courageous, that is a) to cut out the stamps and jettison the rest or b) to do some sort of reparation. What would you advise me to do? Thank you! Heinrich |

Looks like it was some sort of mis-guided attempt to block out the message? I would keep it like this; the cancels are still interesting.

Other then the USA Stamps already posted in this thread I could only find this one Russian Stamp showing European youth Football (soccer) Championship 1984. All I had in the house on topic. Oh yah I played a little when I was a kid, Santa Rosa California Elks (BOE) Club youth soccer team, they took state championship around 1967, I learned a lot on that team and used it in High school. USA has been playing for well over 50+ years. Not stamps but tobacco cigarette cards maybe a look-see. Been hanging on my wall for a long time- found in a bankers box I bought on ebay. |
