Nice one, Stefani:

I like them with light cancellations. However, t360's example with the blue cancellation is also very nice.

Here is 2c black Jackson used on a patriotic cover postmarked at Coalmont, Pennsylvania.
It is addressed to Mr. John Wilson, Barton, Allegany Co., Maryland.

Barton is in west Maryland near Cumberland, about 70 miles from Coalmont, PA.

What a great thread of information.
Only problem is now I have to have one.
I will be keeping an eye out for a black Jack,
(other that the one in the bottle at Steve's house).
And that patriotic cover is a beaut Tom.
I have to agree with Dianne, you are a Magician.

I could swear I read a story in one of last month's stamp magazines about a guy who used a ton of Black Jacks to decorate the walls in his boyhood bedroom. He must have nightmares about that today.

G'Day all,I picked these up this week from a S/Wants auction, one on the right is a bit scruffy but it's the best centered black jack I've seen to date.

regards Harry

Oh and P.S. there both bottom end with cut and missing perf's but $10.00 for each I couldn't resist the temptation

Edited for P.S.

I think AJ was a bit "scruffy" himself.

I won this cover at the H. J. W. Daugherty auction held today at WALPEX.

The grill jumped out at me, it was listed as #87 "E grill".

Thanks Harry! I agree with Tom (nr-notrare) that a bold unambiguous grill is more important than centering on the US 19th century grilled issues.

Yes mate you and NR are both right, the grill tends to jump out at you and you don't seem to notice the off centering .
