stallzer Beautiful copy, nice unobtrusive cancel.

I_Love_Stamps Very nice! I need a proof of the Black Jack! Some essays would be interesting too.

As you can imagine, being a dead guy , Jack loves Halloween.

Here he is in his costume, with a fake bullet hole on his forehead and covered in blood.

I imagine Jackson still believes that Burr got in a lucky shot!

Here are my Black Jacks: a 73 and 87 off cover and two 73s on cover.

The stamp on the Edwin Sampson ad cover struck me as odd in that it looks like Jack has an unusually strong part in his hair. Then I realized that the cancellation has fallen just right to make it appear so.

Wonderful fancy cancel cover tomiseksj!

I like to think that is how Jackson might look if he were alive today.

@ t360 I seen 2 #73 essays once and they are really something else! I seen a beautiful yellow/green one and I believe the other one was either Lake or carmine! I have never seen one since sadly.

This thread got me thinking..what it would be like to see all the stamps that garner this design all side by side. It would be fascinating to see what small details that make them all different/identifiable. From a quick glance at my handy dandy scott catalog says they are - #73, #84, #85B, #87, #93, #103.

I only have two... one in my album, one on a cover I bought years ago. I don't know much about them, other than the one on cover is nicer...
