ok, here's the story. back in the ancient days of my youth, a neighbor introduced me to stamp collecting. he was finishing high school and preparing for college and the real world, had lost interest, and gave me his entire collection (15 volume SCOTT International albums, with about 50,000 stamps in them). For several years I stayed active, constantly adding and upgrading, until I too, reached that point of moving forward in life (and donated the entire collection to another younger collector)

Looking back and remembering some of those days, I remember having a very unusual fantasy stamp from "Skull Island", which featured "KONG" (aka King Kong) on it. That's about all I remember, but that stamp has always been stuck in my memory banks.

Just for the sake of nostalgia, I would really like to see about getting another of these stamps.

Has anyone ever seen/heard of these stamps? are they available?? anybody got a picture of one to share?

I have the King Kong presentation pack from NZ, which roars when you open it. I purchased it along with all 3 Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe presentation packs at the Washington 2006 International Expo. I had enjoyed the books and movies enormously, so I figured I couldn't go wrong with stamps depicting the characters. This was my first purchase of another country besides USA.

after seeing this thread again, I decided to do another google search, and found the exact stamp I remembered from my youth. although mine was unused and not on cover, it was the same stamp.

Is this cinderella also the origin of the word "simoleons", a synonym for money?

Seems as though the origins of the word "simoleon" significantly precedes the original "King Kong."

"si·mo·le·on [suh-moh-lee-uh#8201;n]

noun, Slang. a dollar.

Origin: 1895–1900, Americanism; origin uncertain."
