I do love looking for these things here's a few more. The pic of the full stamps do them no justice still trying to figure out my new microscope thingy.
523iv "blue thread"
522iii "dot between M and A" my pride and joy so far )
523ii "red spot on cheek"
553i "stroke on teepee" still on of my favorite finds as it's the first variety stamp I ever found when I started out. )
The one I have I got off e-bay from a Chinese seller inexpensive and worked right outa the box. Instruction are a bit lacking but at lowest magnification it works just fine for stamps.
Maybe a novice question on this subject, but what's the advantage of using a microscope as shown versus just scanning a hi res image on the stamp from any basic scanner? Is there a quality difference? Is it quicker to use than to just scan the stamp? Or could it be because of the convenience of looking at a mounted stamp in an album without first removing it?
If you leave the stamp in any type of protective cover, the lights of the USB microscope will leave light marks like a flash of a camera would do in a window.
Also, at least with my experience using both scanners and USB microscope, as you would imagine, there are colour differences in the finished product.
To me, it is just another tool (for details it is great)
