Seems like that dot moves a few millimeters every time you show another.

I guess that's a result of a minor shift in the printing plate or the paper as the paper moves through the press.

Here`s another reported flaw...`dot right of roof`.
It`s a good sized dot just to the right of the
lower section of roof.

These are one colour stamps. The dots are caused by dents in the
printing plate. The dents don`t move! It won`t matter if the plate
or paper moves, the dot will still be in the same place.

Then why are there so many variations of identical/similar dots in the same general area if they use the same plate ?

Wert, about the vertical lines into the 7 cents.
I went through my stamps and they all have vertical lines... unless I have a bunch of varieties

As I posted earlier the 6 cent design was made darker for the
7 cent stamp by adding the vertical lines. You won`t find
any without them.

I`ve been looking through a pile of 12x12.5 orange
lately and I found this item. A vertical stroke next
to the nose. Found on row 2/6.

In the close-up the arrow points to a mark that is the bottom
of another stroke. They are usually found in two locations
on the stamp.

Here`s another example:

This reported variety is called `speck in front of chin`.

Alani - Has your study group suggested why there are so many "marks" on these Centennial issues - especially the 6 and 8 cent Queens?

Are they worn plates, misalignments while printing, dirt on the paper or the plates, dirt in the ink, any combination of the preceding, etc., etc.

Hi Blackjak.
I think the main problem is that British-American Banknote wasn`t very
good at printing engraved stamps. The Canadian Banknote issues have
only 1 or 2 known plate varieties.
What went wrong? The plates could be damaged during production, while
being handled, while being mounted on the press and bits of metal can
fly off the poorly made plate while it`s spinning and cause mayhem.

Dot above the right spire. The Centennial Study Group
newsletter says it`s not common...1 in 50k. I was sorting
through an envelope of nice cancels and found 2 of them.
