On the one cent stamp on the left ink is missing
along the bottom.
The bottom frame line and parts of CANADA are missing.
This is caused by a worn or damaged ink roller.
Booklet BK69, Row1/1.

Here are some more examples of ink missing
on the bottom. Take notice of the dark ink
that has replaced some of the missing brown.
This is slate ink from the 8c stamp.
The 6c black is below the 1c stamp and the
8c slate is below the 6c stamp.
I don`t know how the slate ink got up on the
1c stamp. BK69 Row1/1.

3dadeo and Puzzler : if I may suggest...

when working in my Centennials let say with the 6 cents orange, first thing first :

1) sort them, separate all the 12x12 from the 10x10
2) take a small bunch at the time of your 12x12 and throw it under the UV lamp to separate the tagged ones from the no-tagged
3) with the remaining 12x12 no-tag, separate those with an edge from the other perforated on 4 sides (to get the ones from the booklet)

From there, have fun searching for varieties

Make sure you sort and classify your stamps before starting to look for varieties. For example, if you seach through all your one cent accumulation (hundred or thousand) for "the airplane" variety, this stamp is from a booklet (454eix, a stamp with a straight edge...

Knowing that, you will save a lot of work of your eyes...

I've recently undertaken the fun of filling in my LH Hingeless V1 album section on the centennials and this is really my first time getting my hands dirty with the UV lamp, tagging and varieties. Oh man, 3dadeo absolutely saved my sanity trying to figure all this out. Once a few basics were finally pounded in to my skull, it all sort of fell in to place. He's trying to bait me in to chasing paper varieties... NOOOoooo

Anyhow, I've learned a TON about this in the last 48 hours, absolutely fascinating.

Faken : I've just finished sorting about 50% of all my doubles. If I can be of any help to complete some issues, don't hesitate...

Here we have a series of dots that seem to go
right across the sheet...18 panes on BK69.
I have found dots on 13 panes. If they are
laid out in a row all the dots are 34-35 mm apart.
All dots are the same distance above the top
frame line.
#14 is missing then I have #15 then #16-18 are missing.
I don`t know if #1 is the left sheet edge, it`s just
the first one of 13 in a row.

I`ve used an X to indicate where a dot should or might
have been located.

All very interesting. I just am beginning to sort through a very large tote containing MANY of these items and will have fun fly-specking my way through them. Thanks for putting all this information in one large thread.

Edit...Edit...
The reason for the edit is that I added this pic to
post 12 on page 3. The post shows what I thought was
just a one of a kind but now I have found another
example. It could well be a constant variety.

This is turning out to be, for me anyway, a great reference thraed and now, with lots of Centennials hanging about here, not knowing what to do, they now know to sort themselves out into propperly organized little piles or varieties. I do need more tables or levels or areas or something.

Puzzler,
may I suggest you make sure the door and windows are closed to prevent the wind from blowing your piles...

The lower right corner of the one cent stamp
is missing ink.
This is from the booklet BK69. Row2/2.
It`s thought to be caused by poor inking or
a worn ink roller.
