I found this stamp, in my late father's collection, on a page with other stamps from the various Australian states. I'm not sure if this belongs in that category. It was sitting beside one from the State of Victoria. Can anyone help out...identification, value?

Hard to tell, but it appears to be quite thick material. Could it be a cut out of some sort? |

Bit of a mystery? generally all Australian State stamps have their state of origin on the stamp. The item looks to me as a cut out from a newspaper wrapper, maybe there was other print on the wrapper explaining is origin? but could not be sure, Im guessing by the look of it, its thin paper no watermark. sydneyboy |

Sorry I did not read the next post, so being thick perhaps a cut out from a letter card? |

Actually it is not card stock. The paper is very thin (see new photo). As thin as a normal stamp. Even thinner. A slight correction - the colour is a slight, lightish purple. I think when I took the original photo I had the wrong white balance setting. |

I also think there may be some adhesive on the back. Not sure - a bit shiny. |

You might be right. The shininess is not adhesive, but the kind of sheen you see on butcher-block type paper. |

I do have a bunch of other Australian state stamps. Do you mind having a look and giving me some opinions? |

Here is an example of a wrapper, someone may be able to identify the country, good luck. |

The first is not Australian, the second newspaper wrapper is Australian. Shows in my Australasian Stamp Catalogue of 1988 (Ed 23) as W14 from 1931. The cat val then was $AUD35 mint and $AUD20 used. |

64idgaf, The Australian newspaper wrapper was just an example for carleroo to show him the possibilty of a cutout as shown at the start of this post being from a newspaper wrapper fron somewhere in the British Commonwealth. carleroo - would be keen to see your State stamps.
