Hello There,

I was wondering if somebody could help me. I've recently been going through my stamp collection and stumbled upon this stamp. I believe it's a "Canada Christmas Angels 1998 52¢ #1765".

I noticed that the right hand edge has no preforations. All the image I have seen have full preforations. Is this common with this stamp?

That stamp was produced in a booklet pane of 5, so a straight edge would be a normal occurrence at the far right position.

1765 perfed all around 13 x 13-1/2 single from pane of 50. Used 35c in 2005 Unitrade.

1765a the booklet pane of 5 plus label of 1765i's perf 13 x 13-1/2, all having one side or the other straight-edged. Booklet pane with cover known as BK212A. Single from booklet, 1765i, used is $4.00 in 2005.

1765c the booklet pane of 5 plus label of 1765b's perfed 13 x 13, straight edges same as 1765a. Booklet pane plus cover is BK212. Single from booklet, 1765b, is 75c in 2005.

Funny out of order numbering probably comes from discovering the different perfs after the first numbers were assigned. (unless they have been changed in later editions of the catalogue).

Just to update Puzzler's information:

The booklet single that he refers to as Scott 1765i changed its number to 1765as, and in 2009 increased its used price to $5.00.

Thanks stamporator, I saw that number on ebay but wasn't sure exactly what it represented.

Further note: the 45c in this series is also like the 52c stamp in that it has two booklet versions, one being higher priced than the other.

I like the series. Lots of fun discoveries in Christmas stamps that most usually ignore for varieties.

These types of issues of stamps are my arch nemesis right now.... I get them all nicely mounted in my album just to realise that the album has a place for both the booklet issue and definitive issue... and they are 10 pages apart! Needless to say, I have a bunch of empty mounts where I mounted the wrong stamps and had to move them, as well as a sticky note which says "watch for booklet issues". I think this is my only problem with the Unity Canada albums, they would work much better if they followed the Scott order more closesly, rather than following the date of last issue of the stamps.

I agree with mystic226. I have the Unity Canada album and it is a pain. I like the layout mostly but I have a Scott Specialty Album for Scott #1 to Scott #738. It also has the Provinces and all the other Back of Book stamps and I like the layout much better. I am sorry, just realized that that was a little off topic.
