Mount size for Queen Victoria jubilees?
Iam getting ready to transfer my jubilees and small queens into my album but would like to know what size mounts I should use. I will be using clear mounts not the black backing ones so I would like the mount to be a wee bit on the larger size

Hello irishjack,

If you don't already have a perforation gauge with a mm measuring scale, run out and get one. Maybe also spend about $15 or so on a little guillotine device - Lighthouse and Unitrade both have models that cut the mounts AND have a mm scale for measuring the stamp befoe cutting the mount to fit your particular needs and desires.

On a related point, size will be at least partially determined by the amount of space you want around the stamp as it sits inside the mount. I now prefer a larger "border" than in my earlier days using mounts.

If you simply want the size of a typical stamp, check the Unitrade cataloque. However, for any stamps in the classic period, variations in perf techniques will also cause "jumbos" and smaller-than-typical stamps to happen.

Sorry - I'm sure you wanted a much more A+B=C answer.

Peter

I use a guillotine myself. Just remember to take the stamp out BEFORE you cut it to shape lol. I have been mounting my stamps this way for years.

The stamps are 25mm high x 35mm wide. I cut mine all 4mm longer than the stamp, and that gave an even 2mm border all the way around. So a 25x39 would be the pre-cut mount unless you want a smaller border on the ends.
