I am slowly working my way through a collection inherited by my uncle and came across this canadian stamp. I have combed the internet and the scott catologue but can't seem to find it. Any help would be great.

jay -
It looks like it is either cut from a post card or an envelope. If you have a catalog, check those two listings. Since I don't have a catalog (yet), I am sure that a more experienced Canadian collector can confirm what it is.

Not my area, but I assume it's a postal stationery cutout, early Dominion period, 1870ish, and has had a difficult life!

I found a similar postal card on ebay using Google Images by entering in your photo and came up with 1885. Maybe it's a place to start

You were close Suestamps. That looks like a Canadian postal card UX11 UX13 or UX14 depending how big the whole card was.
Issued 1893 to 1896 these were slightly different than their 1882 counterparts. These have little rosettes under the numerals, whereas the earlier one had a shield like ornament below the numeral. An 1887 version had scroll work below the numbers.
The three sizes of card were UX11 127mm x 76 mm, UX13 152mm x 92mm and UX14 140mm x 86mm.
Value of entire card UX11 $5 used/unused, UX13 and UX14 $2 unused, $1.50 used.
Information from Unitrade catalogue 2011.

The main reason I could not get interested in cut squares because I could not determine if the square was from a #8 or #10 piece of stationery.
