Evening all
Have a couple of items here that have been hanging round my Germany collection for a while - can anyone help with dates or other info?

First up is what I assume to be a local parcel post stamp, from Aachen,in North Rhine Westphalia. You can see the words Stade, Packetfahrt Achen, Verkehr, which I think are Stage, Packet Ride Achen, Traffic. I have searched the net and can't find anything similar.

Second is obviously a revenue, for freight, and was spotted on the recent huge number of images put on by doug2222, but I couldn't see any dates of issue / use in that thread.

Any info will be gratefully received.

The first one is indeed a local German stamp.

It's a cut-out from a postal stationery item from the Berlin company "Berliner Packetfahrt Gesellschaft".

I assume from the postmark that this one was used in 1893.

The text around the value reads "Neue Berl. Omnibus u. Packetfahrt Actien-Ges." which was the company name at the time, i.e. "Neue Berliner Omnibus- und Packetfahrt-Actien-Gesellschaft".

The first verkehr, translates (google) as transport. Perhaps some sort of local transportation or freight revenue?
The second frachtstempel translates a bill of lading or freight. Again possibly a freight revenue?

The bottom stamp is a German revenue. Forbin lists it as either 1899 or 1906, with the apparent difference being lozenge watermarks on the 1906 issue. There was only one other stamp in the 1899 issue, a 1-mark value. There were 11 other values in the 1906 issue, and this is the second lowest.

In 1915, the 1899 issue catalogued 3 times what the 1906 issue catalogued. For what that's worth.

It is also possible that the design was reissued later than Forbin's effective date, which must be right around 1915.

Gents
Thanks very much for your replies!
Nigelc,
I was barking up the wrong tree (city-wise) for the first one.
Cjd,
Will check out the watermark on the revenue tomorrow, and report back.
Much obliged for the help.

Cjd,
There doesn't appear to be a watermark on the revenue stamp, so I will assume it is the early one you mentioned. It's quite battered but will stay in the collection anyway.
Thanks again for the info.

That seems to be a good assumption, albeit one based on a 98-year-old resource. (Forbin, not me.)
