Just pulling some stuff from old strand Album I acquired a few years ago and of the 2 Turkey stamps this caught my attention. The other is same denomination but brown . Took a quick look through scotts and don't see it.
There is a chance this could be a slip print but just the dark purple shows doubbling downward across entire stamp. Also ink error with the red crescent moon .
Any info from specialist in this area as I am not a turkey collector in the slightest.

from 1958
these were non obligatory, so not listed

Acknowledgement: Mr. Blair Stannard

The Scott RA stamps are POSTAL TAX revenues. These stamps
were obligatory in addition to postage on certain days.
(eg in 1932, the days were April 20-30.)

The revenues went for child welfare work.
These stamps were stopped in 1958.

NOTE: Similar "stamps" with later dates are private
charity labels issued by the Turkish Red Crescent and
the Society for Protection of Children.

In addition, Turkey issued AIR POSTAL TAX stamps from
1925-1934. (Scott RAC numbers) These were also revenues
and were obligatory on airmail postcards, letters,
registered mail, and parcels, as well as telegrams for
21 days each year.

The revenue went to the Turkish Aviation Society.

The Kizilay Dernegi (red crescent) series are really interesting. Pulko (the Turkish catalog) has a more detailed section on them than Scott or Michel. Unfortunately, mine is in Turkey but I think you may be able to find it on ebay.

Interesting. I've got two of these as well.
The one on the left is the 1957 postal tax (RA207) while the one on the right is the non-obligatory tax, same as yours, Nitro. Mine, unfortunately, is damaged.

The same with the 1954 'Children Kissing' postal tax stamp (RA172). The design was utilized for another non-obligatory tax.

Was this common practice? Are there non-obligatory tax doppelgangers for all Turkist postal tax stamps?

Thanks for the info- Usually would think double impression would be rather rare but judging by James brown issue it seems the quality control department was out to lunch. Since these were non-obligatory it makes sense they were printed as cost effectively as possible.

Stamp in the original post is listed as K143 in my copy of ISFILA (Turkish Stamps & Postal Stationeries Catalogue, 1863-2005). It's part of a 1958 series of "Turkish Red Crescent Society Charity Stamps."

Stamps of children kissing were from a series of charity stamps for the "Turkish Society for the Protection of Children," issued 23 April 1955. But ISFILA does not include a listing for any such stamp without a date above the head of the child on the right.
