On August 26, 1985 the U.S. issued this stamp (Scott 2154) honoring World War I Veterans. It was designed by Richard Sheaff from a charcoal drawing by Harvey Dunn. The image depicts American troops in the Battle of Marne, France. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, almost five million veterans served in the American Armed Forces during WWI.

On March 3, 1919 the U.S. issued this stamp (Scott 537) celebrating the victory of the Allies in World War I and, by extension, honoring all military veterans of the war and those who served on the homefront. Designed by Clair Aubrey Huston, the stamp depicts "Victory" and flags of the Allies.

Nearly 59 years after the end of World War II, the National World War II Memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 29, 2004.

The dedication of the memorial was the culmination of an 11-year effort that started when the memorial was authorized by Congress on May 25, 1993. Construction began September 4, 2001, after several years of fund raising and public hearings. The memorial opened to the public on April 29, 2004.

Coincident with the memorial's dedication, the USPS issued the serpentine die cut (10-3/4) self-adhesive National World War II Memorial stamp on May 29, 2004 (Scott 3862). The stamp was designed by Howard E. Paine and printed by Ashton-Potter (USA) Ltd. A hidden 3-D image of the American flag can be seen on the stamp when it is viewed with a special "Stamp Decoder" lens that was sold by the USPS.

Scott USA 1341 Airlift issued 4 April 1968. I believe this stamp paid the postal rate for a First Class one pound parcel addressed to US military personnel serving in Viet Nam.

Per the note in the Scott Specialized, the $1 airlift (Scott 1341) was issued to pay for the airlift of parcels from and to US ports to servicemen overseas, as well as in Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. It also was valid for all regular postage. On April 26, 1969, the Post Office Department ruled that the stamp "may be used toward paying the postage or fees for special services on airmail articles."

The Ordem Militar de Avis (Military Order of Aviz) is a Portuguese Order of Chivalry awarded to Portuguese and foreign military personnel for outstanding military merit. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a mounted knight and the emblem of the Order, designed by Portuguese artist Cândido Costa Pinto (1911-1976), printed by lithography, and issued by Portugal on August 13, 1963 as one of a set of three similar stamps commemorating the Order's 800th anniversary, plus a photo of decorations of the Order.
