What color is the thread? The scan of the back is fuzzy. Either way it has a great SON cancel and nice margins. It is either Scott #19, 29 or 40, but you probably already knew that. The thin paper is hard to tell from a scan, but if you can compare it to one you know is thin paper it is obvious. I would guess it is #29 unless the thread is green. If the thread is green I would need to see a more detailed scan

It looks like Scott 29 with its fine impression .It doesn't look like the emergency paper issue .The embossing looks too good. But thecolor of the silk thread would be the confirmation .

I grabbed a couple for comparison and you may have #19. The embossing and the fine detail lead me to that conclusion. My best way is to pull known or certified copies from my collection. The first example is #28. Note the rougher detail than yours, and the embossing is not pronounced when looking on the backside. My second example is #39 again rougher detail and it is on cover but when you see it in person it is a great example of thick paper, even on cover you can tell the difference. I have others for comparison, but they are at home and I don't have scans of them at my office.

Still all that being said. I am still guessing #29 as the detail on the ones printed from 1855-57 can really vary.

Ken. You are having the same problem I had in an earlier topic.

The thread is actually that dark line across the back. You can't miss it. (I had mixed it up with granite paper where the color is in the very small fragments of threads that are not easy to see with the naked eye.)
