I been using this SG detectamark for a few years and it does work OK but it makes your hands really hurt twisting the thumb screw underneath it to snug the tray against the toplight.

My wife bought me a 3 dollar uni safe tray and zippo fluid and I'm stunned. I love it, it works WAY FAR better than that other gizmo, and besides being mildly carcinogenic.. and explosive, I look forward to using it! I have been at it most of the day and only suffering mild nausea and a slight headache PLUS I have discovered quite a few goodies hiding in my collection! Amazing but I think I need some fresh air and a cigarette far away from my stamp collection now! lol I love you too honey! Thanks.

I fell for a gizmo once, I bought one of the Morley insta-tector and it is utterly useless. Any watermark you can see with it can be seen by the naked eye. I'm back to a tray and lighter fluid also

What works really well for the smell of the fluid is to have a couple of candles burning in the room make sure its not next to were your working, say if your working in the kitchen table have 3 or 4 candles burning on the work counter. The flames will kill the ronsol fumes in no time.
Another thing you can do is have a fan that is blowing away from were you are working so the fan draws in the smelly air, place a few bounce dryer sheets on the back of the fan they will stay put once the fan is running no need to tape them. once the ronsol air passes through the sheet andfan it will help filter out the smell and also leave a nice fresh smell.
I use to repair fiberglass and often worked on bath tubs in peoples houses I use to do this to kill the fibreglass resin smell.

Irish Jack, May I suggest a fire extinguisher near by- but I see you logic. I'm very cautious and use airbushes frequently, so I have a laminar flow hood in the shop downstairs. It's well ventilated. I just got eager and started up in my bedroom just to check it out. I won't do that too much. I don't even smoke in the house at all so I am very happy

Hi I_Love_Stamps

Just a suggestion but I would change the Zippo lighter fluid to Ronsonol. I have used Zippo before and it seems oily which Ronsonol is not.
