Greetings all, I will be in Victoria BC the first week in April. Any recommended stamp shops there? I collect mainly zepps and US, but I have needs for my Canadian collection too. thanks, yakboomer.

Bernard Schulze works out of his house I think (I am going back years now . . . before I got back into this hobby) and I don't know if he accepts drop-ins. Easy to contact him. AAA is more of a bullion dealer but worth dropping in. There is also Van Isle Coin and Stamp about a block further up Fort Street. He doesn't do much with stamps any more. There is a good auction site out of Victoria - www.weeda.com - and I think he sends a lot of more serious stamp queries there. Weeda is heavily Canadian. |

Weeda used to be in Vancouver and moved to Victoria a few years ago. I bought Canadian material from them, they are good to deal with. I have not been to Victoria for over 8 years - maybe will go to the island this summer. |

Thanks everyone! I will post my acquisitions after I get back home. I have not been to BC since 2009 and have saved up around $30 in Canadian money, including about 100 pennies. Are pennies accepted? I shall find out. regards, yakboomer. |

Pennies are no longer "legal" but this change is so recent that most businesses (ours included) are still dealing with them as before. But it's a good time to part with your Canuck pennies. And more on stamp shops - if you get out of Victoria, there is one about an hour and a half north in Nanaimo too. |

I'd like to clarify the pennies are still legal tender in Canada. The Royal Canadian Mint only stopped producing pennies last month. Some businesses may not want to handle pennies any more but in my experience most still do. Mike |

Well, I am back from Victoria BC and did find a dealer there. I was somewhat disappointed in that they wanted full catalog (2012 Scott Specialized) price. We settled on 75%. I picked up a scott #56 (nicely centered) and a #100 (not so nice centering). I did visit the downtown post office and was somewhat surprised to see they were still selling the #1693 $5 moose sheet, so I picked one up. |
