Got this cover a few years ago at a local flea market.
I don't usually collect covers but I liked the looks of this one.

I love the old zep covers and that is beauty! Fredrickshafen, Bodensee Germany was the base where they built, tested, and flew the zeps. The Graf was the first commercial zep and the special stamp and cachet were to commemorate the first round trip service to the US. Very nice find! Here is wikipedia link for more info for those that want to know more.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LZ_127_Graf_Zeppelin

Nice cover. It's also interesting to see a New York postmark at the bottom of the cover that shows a time of 3 AM!

For whizard - in the Sieger Zeppelin Catalog, your cover is #27A in the 1929 section for LZ127. In 1981, the catalog value was 100 DM, about $47 at that time, but substantially more 32 years later.

philb The best.I can tell Your FDC with one Zepp stamp has a Scott value of $125.00 The New York cancel is special and raises the value to $125. Other cancels are worth $100 It was issued Jan 25th, 1927

whizard your FDC looks great and even though I don't collect FDC's I would cherish it. I would not sell it unless it brought a hansom price.

Whizard's cover is a flight cover, not a first day cover. The 4 RM brown is Michel #424, issued on September 20, 1928.
