I have noticed what might be a shade variety in the 100th Grey Cup stamps issued last August. In the image the top two stamps are used copies, both have been soaked. The bottom two stamps are mint die-cut from the quarterly packs. I initially noticed the shade difference in the grey colour when I placed the overprinted stamp next to the mint regular stamp in my book. The overprinted stamp has noticably lighter shades of grey in the backgroun and the numerals for 100. I grabbed a couple used copies, and noticed that I had a few that were as dark as my mint non-overprinted copy, and one that seemed somewhat lighter in shade.
The cropped corner picture shows a strip from the lighter stamp pasted over the 'normal' or darker stamp. You can clearly see the line in the gradient to the left of the numeral 1 and the difference in shade contained in the numeral 1. Is this something that is worthy of any note?
