Western Union (1952) Parallels USPS Woes In 2013

This is not really stamp related, but some history buffs may find it interesting.

The link below displays a 1952 brochure where Western Union was finding itself in a similar situation not that different from what the USPS is finding itself in currently, with advances in communications and costs eroding what used to be a very profitable company:

If nothing else, it is entertaining to read and certainly gives one a glimpse into yesteryear and what the mindset of the company leadership was in the 1950s when they envisioned what the "future" of the organization would be.

Some entertaining "technology" that is antiquated by today's standards, not to mention the meager wages that were the "norm" back in the day.
