I have been searching for a way to get my Significant Other involved in My Stamp collecting hobby or at least supportive of it. Those of you in a committed relationship understand how sometimes the other people in our lives roll their eyes at our enthusiastic Joy over finding that elusive stamp for our collection.

Well she is into all things butterflies so recently on a whim I bought a packet of 100 different butterfly stamps for her. Well to say the least she is now hooked.

She is planning her album how she is going to format it by country etc how she plans on displaying and showing her butterflies and the search for more.

My time on the computer and stamp room my have just become limited what have I done !

My wife supports me but does not have the gene herself. I did start a stamp collection of stamps of places we have visited during travels. We have seen a fair amount of the US. Finding the stamps of states, parks, monuments is very neat. For example whenwe watched the last Atlantis space shuttle launch, I then located all the space shuttle stamps and put them on a page in "our" separate album.

I admit the Places We've Been is a fun album to look through and reminisce, and she does like it too!

If I could only switch her from shopping to stamps I would finally get that inverted Jenny.

I did that too with my wife. She once asked if there are stamps with fish, sea life and dogs - - - the rest is history. She has several volumes.

She had 3 or 4 aquariums of fresh water fish when we first met. After we married we got into breeding Tibetan Spaniels

Those of you who have someone who is actually interested in stamp collecting and can share the fun of collecting with you are so lucky!
Over the years I have tried to interest my family in stamp collecting, but they just roll their eyes and say "boring". I have even talked with friends who might be interested, since they collect other stuff, and after the initial look of something like fear, the answer has always been NO!
Maybe that's why I enjoy SCF so much...everyone shares and is interested (and also interesting).

I guess that is why I'm on SCF too. No one to share stamp collecting with. One nephew is into coin collecting, Close but no cigar. My wife likes that I have a hobby that I can enjoy and also encourages me in my collecting.

I get "It's your hobby. If you think it (the stamp I am obsessing about) is really worth it..." What does that really mean? If I don't have to refinance the house...OK? If I can pay for it with pocket money...OK?
Oh well, I can always buy it and "flip" it for tons more than I paid for it.
Stamp collecting can be a lonely hobby.
So, thanks again everyone on SCF for being there.

Same with me. But I'm the "wife" who tries to make husband interested in stamps or postcards. It hasn't worked until this moment. :p For this reason I started collecting bicycles stamps (he's cyclist and loves Tour De France, Giro D'Italia etc). But I only have few issues and so I haven't showed them him yet. :p It still needs to be pretty and I must learn about the history of each one to improve my speech.

I'm a lonely person in all of my hobbies. But a cyclist may be too depending on where he lives and he always tries to convince me to ride. Let's see who wins!

Simple solution to the problem. Don't have a "significant other." ;-)
