I found this older cover, and at first thought it was a crude attempt at a fake postage due. Then I noticed that the dates are completely different. (Melbourne 1938) Any idea what someone was trying to do here? (Maybe Grandma ran out of space in her album and just decided to glue the stamp in the first place she found?)

3d was the correct overseas rate in 1937 (that is what the blue values were for). No obvious reason for the addition of the 2d red, other than perhaps it was the same basic design and the 1d stamps originally used.

Yes, way too odd. The additional value is on a different piece of paper glued to the envelope. I think it is just a contrived item, but I can't figure out the purpose since it was in the collection since 1938. Grandma did some odd things back then.

Perhaps she wanted to keep the King and Queen together, with nice cklear cancels, for the recipient. For a future young collector.

Or the King was from a family member and she wanted to get them all gathered up again in one place.

Lots of personal reasons could be forund.
