I looked up Laura Martin's family on Ancestry and there does not seem to be a connection to Rachel E. Martin. However, Laura's father was William Hays Martin; born June 18 1852 and died April 2, 1911. He was born and raised in Jersey Shore. A long-time resident. Laura's mother was Amanda M. Harris who was born December 12, 1849 in Porter, PA. This could be Porter Twp. but I'm not sure. She died sometime during 1930. Laura had 3 sisters and 1 brother. I found a 1930's census for Laura showing she lived in Jersey Shore up to that point but I've yet to find a 1940's census. I believe she was a spinster for all of her life since I can't find a record of a marriage for her. I'm still looking to see if I find anything else. This is proving interesting.

Jeff, your first cover has a nice example of the Standard Rose of 1862, which was a year of mainly roses, carmines and reds. It's a nice shade.

I don't think the 2nd one is '62 at all-- looks like the darker shades where the lakes and browns and clarets were introduced in '63 or '64, and it could be later even-- can't see how much brown is in it, but lots of brown in '65 and later......

FYI, Ray
