Today, I received an email from LinnsSponsers about a $5 coupon with WOPA's online store. I have never received an email that is even remotely similar to this and I wondered whether or not it is legitimate. Any opinions?
I received the very same e-mail today. I simply deleted it. I do recall receiving another similar "offer" a month or so ago (from a different "sponsor") connecting it with my Linn's "subscription". Funny thing is, I don't subscribe to Linn's -- at least not as a paid subscriber -- although I do subscribe to their occasional "free" e-mails and I have ordered catalogs and supplies from them, which is probably where they got my e-mail address from.
I wouldn't worry about it. It's just an electronic example of "junk mail". I receive them all the time. Unless you have specific interest in the advertiser, hit the "delete" button.
I subscribed to WOPA's news letter and eventually got a coupon good for 5 British pounds off an order. I decided to order. while the prices for the mint stamps were indeed what was charged, AND the 5 pound coupon was honored, I was eaten alive with shipping charges.
What happens is that the order is forwarded to the appropriate country's post and philatelic service. They then send the stamp, charging your account what I consider outrageous shipping charges. I had ordered a stamp costing less than a Euro, and was hit with 8.95 euros shipping.
