Just got these beauties in the mail--completing my Newfoundland collection. Simply sharing--hope no one minds me showing off....

The first one is C2c, VF, LH. The variety (the c) is without comma, the "A" or "AIR" is under the "a" of "Trans". It is one of 400 issued by Newfoundland in 1919 (as depicted on the stamp)

The other one is C3j, VF and NH... Its variety is with 1 +1/2 mm between "AIR" and "MAIL" and the "1" of "1921" is below the "f" of "Halifax". Only 556 were issued.

Lots of history about these variants and quite interesting how they came to be.

I've now completed all the C2 and C3 variants. whew!

Congrats!

You must have one of the better Newfoundland collections extant.

This is also an opportunity to thank you for the I.D. help on the 1p brown violets.

tommy, I do envy your Newfoundlands. I will be attending the SEAPEX show in early November and hope to get one of the less expensive C3. Now that your collection is complete, are you going to Disneyland? :)

Thanks for kind comments--especially the Disneyland line. Had to laugh and cringe because I worked there for 10 years and can't stand the place anymore--simply because it gets old fast. Diminishing marginal returns like Eclairs...

What is SEAPEX? Where is it? Let me know if you see any Newfie covers from prior to 1930. My latest goal is to collect every Newfoundland stamp on a cover. (having already amassed a complete Lighthouse binder of all mint and another all used (except for the 9 most expensive stamps). I thought it would be unique to have the entire country stamps on covers. Crazy perhaps. I'd say you should be able to pick up a C3 for 25-45% of CV, but of course only from reputable dealer or with cert because they are easy to forge.

Seapex is the big Seattle area show, and is an APS event. This year, it only has 15 dealers. I've been saving my nickles and dimes (and tens and twenties) for it.

Tommy: thanks for sharing your Newfie stuff. I had a fairly good collection that I sold in the late 1980s. Have been rebuilding it in the past few years. But haven't yet tried to work on the C2 or C3 groups.

These are very nice - thanks for sharing

My Newfoundland collection is almost 90% complete, but I doubt I will ever have the real rare ones in it.

Congratulations
Michael
