Greetings- Complete noobie here as I haven't really been active in collecting since...the early 70s! After the generally favorable reviews here of the Mystic Heirloom album, I'd think I'd like to get the pages at the very least as I like the general look and the stamp descriptions. Are those 3 punched to a standard that would be interchangeable with other company's binders? My assumption is Yes, but one never knows. My thought was I'd like to get a slightly higher quality binder to go with their pages. Time to retire that 1937 Grossman bound album I was given as a kid. Thanks. John

Welcome to the forum John I am not familiar with those albums. About 80% of my albums are home made. I prefer a better quality binder though for any of them where possible. I prefer to make my own because I can place the stamps in an arrangement to my liking. The only thing I follow, of course, is to keep the stamps in their annual order. Chimo Bujutsu |

Hi John! I have the Mystic Heirloom Albums. Yes, they are standard punched holes and are compatible with other binders. Dan |

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example. I collect for enjoyment, not investment. APS Member #223433 Postmark Collectors Club Member #6333 Meter Stamp Society Member #1409 |

If you are choosing a commercial album, consider the cost of it's annual supplements. I prefer 3 hole punch, that way it's easy to make my own pages with regular (acid free) paper. |

The Mystic Heirloom is three holed punched. The only issue I have seen is that the holes are closer to the edge than a standard punched page, at least in Volumes 1 and 2. |

Thanks for the replies, I'm not too concerned about the supplements as I don't really intend to collect "modern/current" stamps. I have gone ahead and ordered the Volume 1 pages, so we'll see what those are compatible with in a few days. John |

I too have the Mystic Heirloom Collection. Andy you are right about the holes being punched too close to the edge. So I bought at the Dollar Store in school supplies the page Hole reinforcements. I was going to do all the pages but decided that would make the Albums too thick so I just put the reinforcements on the holes that tear. Works for me. I really haven't used that many reinforcements because I am aware of the problem so I am extra careful in handling the pages when I turn them. I have expended the Collection from three albums to five so as not to crowd them and see volume six coming soon. Chuck IE: TinMan |

The album pages arrived yesterday (3 day service, outstanding from Mystic...) and I can state that the punch spacing seems "standard", they fit right into a 3 D-ring binder purchased from any office supply store. Really like the page layouts, paper tint and descriptions. Now to shop for a suitable permanent binder and slipcase....something "leatherette"! I see that Mystic has a "Premium" version. John |

I bought the Mystic Premium Binder. It's very nice, but I don't care for the binder rings. One of my rings got bent, so I don't use it any more. I had it listed in Buy/Sell/Trade for the cost of shipping, but no one took me up on it. |

Oh, and just as an FYI, Mystic is kind of funny with their treatment of se-tenants. I've made a bunch of page mods to make sure se-tenants are mounted connected. Check out the site in my signature for my modified Mystic pages. |

Thanks for the info, before joining here I read back posts that the Mystic's binder clasps do not do the male-female thing, so I'm a bit wary of that...pages slipping through, holes getting torn, etc. Guess I will have to be extra careful and keep the 4 year old grandson's fingers out of there, at least for a few more years. Andy if you will call Mystic Stamp Co.They will send you a new Binder free and a shipping envelope to send the damaged Binder back to them. At least they did for me. Don't tarry though because the ring will tear the pages. Chuck |

The ring bent because my cat knocked it over. I don't want to take advantage of their customer service that way. |

Andy Mine was defective from the start. Bent when I first got the Albums. I hadn't even mounted one stamp in it. I thought that was the way it came to you from Mystic. No I wouldn't try to cheat Mystic. They have always been fair to me. |
