Hi..Don't know if this is a normal thing, but take a look at the perforation shift on these Scott #644 - 647 stamps.

Varieties like this provide the philatelist with a clue as to the method and direction of perforating a particular stamp issue.
In this case, most likely a single H-comb perforator (there seems to be a slight alignment difference near the middle of the second column of stamps as well). |

That is rally neat Wert. I haven't seen that type of variety before now and truthfully didn't think about it even existing.
Boy, the more I learn, the more there is to enjoy learning. |

studystamps..You know it is funny that a lot of people come on here posting their stamps..errors/oddities, and you would think that people like Unitrade would have some one jumping from forum to forum trying to see if anyone has come across something new..maybe not mine, but others..?? |

wert: I can say with 100% certainty that the Unitrade editor does follow this particular forum (problem a dozen times a day) and subscribes to many of the topics. With that said, page 27 of the Unitrade catalogue does state that... Quote: "With the rare exception of a couple of colour shifts that were listed many years ago, we do not list perforation, colour, or tagging shifts in this catalogue. We certainly recognize that there is strong collector interest in these sorts of varieties." |

For an explanation of this perforation peculiarity I urge readers to examine an article written by Leopauld Beaudet in BNA TOPICS, September / October 1976, page 11. Because of the length of the article "The 1973 Prime Minister Definitives" readers should go to www.bnaps.org where back issues of TOPICS will be found in the archives. Although Beaudet was discussing the Caricature definitive of 1972, I am sure the technology applied to other stamps produced by the Canadian Bank Note Company. GJP |
