So I managed to win these four stamps in an auction for the equivalent of USD 12. I'm not sure if they're the real deal (the buyer didn't state this and for some silly reason I forgot to ask) and they're not in real good condition, but I decided to take a gamble. Nice addition for my old Germany collection.
What do you think? Good deal or not?

Are there any markings on the reverse such as "ND"?

They are all genuine but in deplorable condition which makes them of no value whatsoever,

As I don't define "value" purely in economic terms, they indeed have "value"- for the examples of design, for the history, for the thrill of holding tangible pieces of little art.

I believe I have a list of post offices for both districts, so if you want to post the numbers in the cancels, I'll look them up for you. I think I can read two of them, but you'll have better luck holding them in your hand.

I'm with Jkjblue on this one. And better to have them than not.

I have a good number of Thurn und Taxis, some in very good condition and some that are very rough. I think that having a postally used stamp that is about 145 years old in any condition is preferable to not having any copy. I think you got a bargain at $3 each.

Your stamp in the upper left is from the Northern District and the other three are from the Southern District; you probably already know that, but just in case. I believe the former are a little more scarce than the latter.

Thanks Donald.

Cjd, didn't see your offer on the cancels. Thanks for that, but I have a copy of the Michel Atlas zur Deutschland Philatelie, which has all info I need. Gonna start studying on that once the stamps arrive.

Edit: already started with the images...the top right looks to be either 64 (Schenklengsfeld) or 164 (Wörrstadt). Both small towns, so that's nice.
The bottom right reads 134 to me which would be Mainz. The other two numbers I can't identify from the picture.
