Hi All,

I have a JF Renner stamp that I am using in a design and can not seem to find the story behind it. I am looking for anything about it I can find. Specifically about the 1.20, the translation of the arching word, the translation of the word centered on the bottom and the meaning of aro - nen.

Can you help me?

Thanks so much.

You have an Austrian newspaper stamp from 1921. Sc#P45 in the Scott Catalogue.

The top, says German Austria. The bottom says newspaper stamp.

1.20 is the denomination, one of the higher values in the full set.

I should add that the design depicts Mercury. Here is a larger scan for others who are wondering about it:

By the way, the letters on each side of '1.20' are kro and nen for Kronen, the currency unit. A krone was 100 heller at the time.

Thank you so much CJD!

Is the value of the stamp over $10?

Five to ten cents, U.S.

Slightly more, genuinely used. They are exceptionally common, and generally I get a bunch of this material stuffed in an envelope for a dollar or three.

Great. I am using it for a design and wanted to make sure it is the right stamp.

Thank you again for your help.

Cjd: How did you make the larger scan? Nothing I do seems to yield anything but a small scan. Thanks...
