I just completed cataloging the few Australia KGV definitives I have in my collection. Nothing special there, but I have a couple of ones that intrigue me.

This stamp is Scott 68. It has a poorly punched perfin that depicts I don't know what. The reverse image shows the perfin holes enhanced with black dots to show them more clearly. What is the perfin supposed to be? Flower? Fountain? Fancy lettering? Any ideas?

The second stamp is Scott 116, with a missing corner and an ugly stain. The odd thing about this stamp is the Crown and CofA watermark is inverted. Can any KGV expert provide any details on this stamp with an inverted watermark?

Any information (or speculation) will be greatly appreciated.

Robert

As per the perfin, there are 8 positions a perfin may be found in. Upright, turned ledt or right, and upside down, and then also punctured through the stamp while the stamp was upside down, and thus mirrored.

Your image upside down, and then mirrored or flipped:

So could be a T or J lettering perhaps.

and a web site about Australia Perfins:
Perfin Stamps of Australia
http://www.perfins.com.au/

and perhaps another site about teh SilverJubilee stamps' perfins:
King George V Silver Jubilee - Perfins of Australia
http://www.philatel2.com/jubilee/id213.htm

that could shed some light on something?

Your KGV 2d stamp with no corner looks orange but the 2d orange only was issued in Single watermark.

Your 2d red KGV is from a booklet. Cat value $3

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out those perfin websites. I figured the inverted watermark was from something as mundane as a booklet, but wasn't sure.
