Hi to all

IS this a die I & Die ii pair. One of the stamps, the left hand one, has the break on the border, the other does not.
Any help appreciated.
Regards
Horamakhet

you are correct . For those readers not familiar with the two types ,the example above shows a small break in the inner frame just above the value [on this stamp just above and to the left of the "O" of the lettering of "ONE"].

Apparently Die I+II pairs are very rare, and can only be established by careful plating of the two stamps.

If you're confident you have such a pair, I'd suggest submitting it to the Royal Philatelic Society of Victoria (RPSV) for a certificate. The RPSV are the acknowledged experts on early Australia.

Hi Floortrader & Tonymacq,

Thanks for the advice, I think I will have to do that, as I too read that such pairs are very rare and costly. It would be a find if it truly is.
Regards
Horamakhet.

They both look the same to me??
Even at the low scan resolution there appears to be a break in the same place on both stamps.

Good luck though.

I agree. The first scan seems to show the same break in both. It is a little less clear in the second scan. Good luck on the cert ... would be a great find!
