I'm really a combination of mounting mint and high value stamps; I mount anything with cv over $10. |

Generally I mount MNH stamps only and use hinges for mint hinged and cancelled used stamps. But sometimes I will use mounts with used stamps if they do not contrast well with my album leaves, which are a pale cream colour. I would prefer to hinge everything, though, as I hate looking at my stamps through shiny plastic mounts, even if they are only slightly shiny. For me nothing beats seeing the actual stamp.

I would have to vote 'none of the above' - its complicated, I use mounts [Hawid style] sometimes. |

Because most of my are low value and because of the number of albums and volume of stamps I have, hinges are the only option for me. Dianne |

I enjoy using Clear Scott or Showguard type mounts on everything. They add so much potection and look very nice. |

I mount any modern stamp with a CV over $25, any stamp with an odd shape (round, triangular, etc.) and every stamp from the 19th century.

I voted none of the above.
I'm more about uniformity. My Israel and my Dead Counties collections are in mounts, regardless of value. My used US is hinged, but I don't have anything valuable there, so I'm not sure what I'd do. Scouts on Stamps and Haiti are in Vario pages. Yet others are in stock books.
I guess I'm just conflicted. |

I mount only high value stamps. I use clear mounts, so they look good right along with hinged stamps. When I do use mounts, it's not just because I'm worried what the hinge might do to the back of the stamps, it's also because mounts are more secure. I'll take my chances with hinges coming loose on a penny stamp, but not on one that's going to cost me more than dinner at a nice restaurant if I need to replace it. |

99% of my stamps are mounted with black mounts. I just prefer the look and the uniformity. Unfortunately, many of my mounts are worth more than the stamps they house :)
In the midst of changing my US collection from the Mystic album to the Scott National and am buying all new mounts to do it with. I'm up to 1935 so far and I know it's going to get quite monotonous from the 40s on up |

For my US collection, I use mounts for any stamp, used or mint. I just like the way it makes my album look and it makes it easy to swap out for a better quality stamp.
For all my WW stuff, I use hinges. I prefer to collect used stamps anyways and nothing I have is of any considerable value. |
