Hi

I am a complete stamp virgin but found in a box of things from an auction such a pretty stamp and have just been so curious about it!

The photo doesn't do it justice it's kind of pale rose pink . The picture is lovely and it has the word chine(?) stamped over it in red.

Any info would be lovely. Thinking of framing it with a small piece underneath it with its story!

Welcome.

In person, does your stamp look similar to this one?

This scan is a stamp that dates from 1894. In the Scott catalogue, it is given the number France-Offices in China #6.

This scan is from an item for sale now on bidstart (not mine), and the price is 75 cents. Doesn't mean it is not a neat stamp. Old does not necessarily mean valuable when it comes to stamps.

Condition does mean a lot, so a collector would bypass your example in favor of one that is not damaged. Doesn't mean you have to, though. Who knows? Maybe you'll get hooked.

Hi,
There is a wikipedia page with some info you might find interesting - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_Sage
I collect France and this series (Sage/Peace and Commerce) has many types both for France and for use in its colonies and foreign offices.
