"Will Payne English Companion to the Michel Deutschland-Spezial Katalog"

Is anyone here familar with this? I noticed one on ebay and am curious if it's something worth looking for (not at the listed price, though!)

I have several different volumes, but they're not handy at the moment. If the seller gets that price, I may have to sell mine.

When I get home tonight, I can look them over again (it's been a few years), and give you my impression.

I did find this list of the Will Payne volumes (I believe these are all of them):

The Will Payne English Companion To The Michel 'Deutschland-Spezial' Katalog, Germany: World War One Occupations 1914-1918

The Payne English Companion To The 'Deutschland-Spezial' Katalog, Germany: Plebiscite Areas 1920-1923

The Will Payne English Companion To The Michel 'Deutschland-Spezial' Katalog, Germany: The German Reich 1872-1933

The Will Payne English Companion To The Michel "Deutschland-Spezial" Katalog, Germany: The Third Reich 1933-1945 (1993)

The Will Payne English Companion To The Michel 'Deutschland-Spezial' Katalog, Germany: The Third Reich 1933-1945 (1997)

The Will Payne English Companion To The Michel 'Deutschland-Spezial' Katalog, Germany: World War II Occupations 1939-1945

The Will Payne Companions are useful if you need a translation of the "headings and footnotes" in the Michel specialized catalog. Below are some representative pages from three of the handbooks.

I've made use of them on occasion, although a bit of a pain having to reference the Michel catalog and the Will Payne simultaneously.

Regards, Robert

For around $10 to $15 you could get a complete German Language course on the bay. Adding a good German/English dictionary would make a cheaper, and better, investment. And you would have the added boost of knowing another language.

I have a set, though I rarely use them. The English-language Michels are better, more thorough translations.

I had the whole set of them, but sold them after Michel issued their English language catalogs for Germany. The Michel English editions did not cover all the areas that their German-language specialized catalogs did, but did cover all of the areas that the Payne booklets did and more.
