Happy Birthday to Johann Nepomuk Eduard Ambrosius Nestroy (1801-1862), an Austrian playwright, actor and singer. One of Nestroy's comedic plays, Einen Jux will er sich machen ("He'll Have Himself a Good Time," 1842) was adapted for the stage by Thornton Wilder as The Matchmaker (1938), which in turn was made into a motion picture comedy by the same name in 1958, and finally was adapted for the popular Broadway musical Hello, Dolly (1964)! Happy Birthday to German playwright and screenwriter Carl Zuckmayer (1896-1977)! Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of the writer. designed by Austrian artist Auguste Böcskör, combined engraved by Maria Magdalena Laurent and photogravure, and issued by Liechtenstein on March 12, 1984, Scott No. 777, plus a photo of Carl Zuckmayer. Happy Birthday to Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux (1688-1763), a French playwright and novelist. Marivaux wrote more than 30 plays, principally in the genre of romantic comedy. Marivaux's play Le Triomphe de l'amour (1732) was adapted by British screenwriter Clare Peploe (1942- ) and filmed in English as The Triumph of Love (2001), starring Mira Sorvino, Ben Kingsley, and Fiona Shaw. Kisafaludy first achieved success in 1819 with his tragedies A tatárok Magyarországon ("The Tatars in Hungary") and Ilka, vagy Nándorfehérvár bevétele ("Ilka, or the Capture of Belgrade"). The Kisfaludy Society was created in his honor in 1836.
