While I was crying over this flat, I decided to add two blocks-of-four from other abused covers. Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey |

For crayon markings I believe xylenes and a cotton swab will remove it completely. Butthese lower denomination stamps probably not worth the effort. |

Everything I get here from Canada Post gets this treatment. I have asked the senders and they think it's someone down here. I question that. |

I question it as well, as stamps are usually canceled in the originating country these days. I know Great Britain doesn't cancel stamps anymore, what is Canada's policy?
For instance, my mother and my sister have been sending things back and forth to each other in a little box with the same stamps on it, over and over, because they never get canceled! (shhh... don't tell the Feds) ;-) |

Found another variety, unsure if it has been posted prior.
Received a parcel with 30 or so Canadian Stars of the movies issues. The die-cut self adhesives, were attached overlapping each other.
The stamps let go under water soaking, but where they overlap, the gum remains on the stamp underneath.
Every stamp but the top one, ruined.

Rod, careful use of lighter fluid or citrus oil cleaner will remove the stamps intact. After the stamps are removed from the paper, further careful application of the solvent will clean off the self-adhesive material...including that which was on the printed areas.
Of course, if the stamps have been on the paper a long time...say, a year or longer, "all bets are off". |

Thanks Bob, I'll try that next parcel, not soak in water first. I'll post my results.

This is moved from What Was in Your Mailbox thread. Could have been worse: they might have been upright Jennys. Dan |

Received this one today. The ebay seller was nice enough to have nice SOTN cancels put on all the blocks. Apparently, the hand cancels were just not enough for someone else. |

Sheesh, someone has an issue there, Bob.
Perhaps consider the stamps may have been stained from the pink cover, when soaked. The only mitigating factor.

Nells, I am assuming you received this postal handiwork rccently. The Machin stamp surface is pretty resilient. So, if you put some lighter fluid on it and let it set for several minutes (still wet,or shiny) and then wipe with a soft tissue, you may be able to make the stamp look a little more presentable.
The longer the marker ink stays on the stamp, the tougher it will be to remove any of it. |
