But technically, to qualify for first class tracking, it has to be a first class parcel.

First Class Parcel

Definition : 13oz or less
and 84 inches in combined length and girth.

Rates : from $1.93 to $3.47 (for 13oz) when
purchased online ($4.12 on usps.com)

All envelopes and boxes are free at the
post office, or you can order them on
the usps website...

disi123, I provided the link that specifically defines first class parcels. Your definition above is incomplete. A #10 envelope with a piece of paper in it is less than 13 oz and 84 inches, but it is not a parcel. That envelope would not technically qualify for tracking, even if you paid the $1.93 parcel rate.

My definition is entirely complete,
given AT NO TIME did I EVER STATE
a #10 envelope, nor imply it...

As I stated...

Quote:

the usps website...

As an "FYI", though... I've received
stamps from sellers in #10's with
Ebay/Paypal tracking labels taped to
them (or adhesive type) numerous times...
I'll admit, perhaps these might be
"falling through the cracks" (as it were)
and I would not advocate (anyone) sending
this way, but people do-do it...

Understand one thing... I'm a stamp
collector... I do not, nor do I have
any short term plans to sell stamps
on ebay... my main business is hard
drives, and we do quite well with it.

We have shipped product in every way
imaginable, including our very strong
presence on ebay, which we have had
since late 2006, 100% of which is
shipped via USPS... FIRST CLASS WITH
TRACKING and PRIORITY SMALL FLAT RATE
BOX, with the sole exception being
when we send software or a cable to
a customer in either a 6x8 flat or
8x10 padded with a FIRST CLASS WITH
TRACKING label on them... and we
frequently receive product from our
vendors in exactly the same manner...

To repeat my opening statement in
this reply...

AT NO TIME did I EVER STATE a #10
envelope, nor imply it...

I'm not sure what's more annoying, the walls of text in the other thread or the poetry style in this one

More text, punctuation and spelling complaints, is it a full moon today? BTW. you forgot a period at the end of your sentence. Must be a link to the writing forum around here somewhere, cause they don't seem to want to stick to stamps today. lol...8-)

disi123, what got me posting in the first place was your incorrect/misleading statement: "...you can send anything in a...plain paper envelope 6x9...and stick on a USPS First Class label with tracking on it..."

A 6x9 paper envelope does not qualify as a parcel (unless you put something very rigid inside or something thick enough to get above the minimum.) That's really all I've been politely trying to clarify today, apparently to no avail, so I'll give up.

You're right in one sense -- anyone can do it and they'll probably get away with it (as you have.) Just understand that something like that is NOT a trackable item per USPS regulations; don't be too disappointed if you fail to get the service/tracking you think you're paying for. It means a USPS employee was doing their job & actually took the time to understand the new rules.

I'll finalize with the following statements...

1. It doesn't matter to me one iota what anyone
reading this thread does or does not do... that
is up to each and every person how they choose
to conduct their businesses...

I did not start this thread, however I participated
in it with only FACTUAL INFORMATION, whether ANYONE
believes it's factual or not... I simply do not care,
nor does it make any difference to me now or ever...

With regards to your "polite" statement...

Yes... I agree you should give up, because
your statement is incorrect... you're thinking
on the level of a stamp seller (which is fine)
however the rest of the world doesn't send stamps
through the mail in 6x9 (or any other size)
envelopes... they send documents and other
material... NONE OF WHICH HAVE, NEED, NOR
REQUIRE any type of stiffener to be legitimized
as a parcel...

Furthermore, Mr Srail, I take personal offense
at two of your unfounded accusatory statements...

1.

I acknowledge you are an expert within the stamp
world, but you most certainly are not an expert
in the shipping world, and to accuse (anyone) as
you have of making a misleading statement in an
area you have proven yourself to be wrong in, is
a direct attack on a person's character... so,
please, next time you have thoughts on this level,
choose how you state them....

Get away with it? Let me tell you something,
my friend... we have shipped over 25,000 of
your alleged "get away with its" on ebay and
likely double that amount off ebay... and,
again... a character attack... very unprofessional
on your part (or anybody's part) to *ever* make
statements like this in an open forum...

You have made your statements as though you
were making them from knowledge... you have
proven you have only made them from a total
lack of that knowledge...

I'll close with the following proverb, and
I will not participate in this thread any further...

"There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See"...

1546 (John Heywood), and resembles the Biblical verse Jeremiah 5:21 ('Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not'). In 1738 it was used by Jonathan Swift in his 'Polite Conversation' and is first attested in the United States in the 1713 'Works of Thomas Chalkley'. The full saying is: 'There are none so blind as those who will not see. The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know'.
