The 10th Anniversary of Armenian Earthquake
September 26, 1998
The 1988 Armenian earthquake, also known as the Spitak earthquake, occurred in the northern region of Armenia (then part of the Soviet Union) on Wednesday December 7, 1988 at 11:41 local tim. The magnitude 6.8 earthquake caused at least 25,000 death, mostly in Gyumri and in Spitak. A great number of dwellings, historical monuments, and public and commercial buildings were damaged or destroyed.

The Eruption of Taal Volcano, Philippines.

The explosive eruption of Taal Volcano ocurred from 28 to 30 September, 1965.

The main phreatic explosions opened a new crater 1.5 km long and 0.3 km wide on the southwest side of Volcano Island in Lake Taal.
The eruption covered an area of 60 square kilometers and killed 200 persons

1931 Earthquake Relief
The 1931 Nicaragua earthquake devastated the capital city Managua on March 31 at 16:02 local time. The magnitude 6.0 earthquake killed 2000 people. A major fire started and destroyed thousands of structures, burning into the next day. At least 45,000 were left homeless and losses of US$35 million were recorded.
The relief stamps consist of 12 se-tenant pairs showing the scenes before and after the earthquake. A separate set of 10 se-tenant pair with OFFICIAL overprint was also issued.

The 1908 Messina Earthquake
November 3, 2008
The 1908 Messina earthquake occurred at 05:20 local time on December 28. The cities of Messina and Reggio Calabria were almost completely destroyed. The magnitude 7.1 quake also triggered a tsunami which struck nearby coasts. Between 75,000 and 200,000 lives were lost.

Danube Flood Victims
September 25, 1970
The 1970 floods in Romania, due to river swelling caused by torrential rains, high winds and a heat wave that melted snow in the Carpathian Mountains, were the worst in modern Romanian history.
The floods began around May 12 and lasted into mid-June. It killed people and livestock, destroyed farmland, and damaged houses, roads, and factories.

Brandenburg Flood Relief semipostal
July 19, 1997
Flood of the Oder River and its tributaries occurred due to two periods of extensive rainfall in the region in July 1997. The flooding began in the Czech Republic, then spread to Poland and Germany. The flood has also been referred to as the Great Flood of 1997. The Czech Republic and Poland suffered great damage and loss of 105 lives. The German state of Brandenburg also suffered damages.
The flood relief stamp was issued very quickly (quantity: 3,760,000) with simple design of a map and the coat of arms of Brandenburg.

Flood Relief Fund
May 6, 1940
Vast floods of the Danube in late March 1940 left hundreds of families homeless and destroyed a great number of livestock. The semipostal stamps and souvenir sheet show a man struggling in flood waters, protecting woman and two children from onrushing water. The inscription on a ribbon reads "In aid of flood victims 1940."

Earthquake Relief
1956
The 1956 Chim earthquake was a destructive multiple-shock event that occurred on March 16 in Lebanon along a strand of the Dead Sea Transform (DST) fault system. The epicenter was located in the south of Lebanon in the Chouf District. Six thousand homes were destroyed and another 17,000 were damaged, and 136 people were killed.

Earthquake Rescue Efforts
October 15, 1999
The 1999 Izmit earthquake occurred on August 17 at 03:01:40 local time in northwestern Turkey. The violent shock of magnitude 7.6 lasted for 37 seconds, killing around 17,000 people and left half a million people homeless. The nearby city of Izmit was very badly damaged. Destruction in Istanbul was concentrated in the Avcilar district to the west of the city.

Some more from the 1987 floods in Natal, South Africa:
The first Natal Relief Fund surcharges were on the recently issued additional value in the 4th definitive set. A 10 cent surcharge was applied to each stamp and were inscribed in English and Afrikaans on alternate stamps.




The second Natal Relief Fund surcharge was on the 16c value of the Bible Society of South Africa set issued on 16 November 1987, the surcharge again alternating between English and Afrikaans.




Third Natal Relief Fund surcharge was on the 16c value of the 500'th Anniversary of the discovery of the Cape issued 1 March 1988. The image for this stamp is in an earlier post of this thread.

The fourth and final Natal Relief Fund surcharge, was applied to the entire set of of the 300'th anniversary of the arrival of the French Huguenots at the Cape which was issued on 13 April 1988
