250th Anniversary of the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake
November 25, 2005
The 1755 Lisbon earthquake occurred in the Kingdom of Portugal on Saturday, November 1 (All Saints' Day) at around 09:40 local time. The 8.5 - 9.0 magnitude earthquake, in combination with subsequent fires and a tsunami, almost totally destroyed Lisbon and adjoining areas. Estimates place the death toll in Lisbon alone between 10,000 and 100,000 people, making it one of the deadliest earthquakes in history. The earthquake also had wide-ranging effects on religion and politics of the Kingdom.

The 100th Anniversary of the Marsica Earthquake
January 13, 2015
The Marsica earthquake of January 13, 1915 was one of the most catastrophic earthquakes to occur in Italian territory, leaving 120,000 victims in Marisca and surrounding areas. The main shock (7:48 AM local time) and the initial aftershock was felt throughout all of central Italy. The town of Pescina was completely leveled and most of its 6000 residents were killed or injured.
The commemorative stamp depicts photomontage of two different views of the church of San Bartolomeo di Avezzano, respectively before and after the earthquake.

The Twentieth Century
December 22, 1999
The Great Kanto Earthquake struck the Kanto Plain on the Japanese main island of Honshu at 11:58:44 a.m. local time on Saturday, September 1, 1923. The 7.9 - 8.2 magnitude earthquake devastated Tokyo, the port city of Yokohama, and the surrounding prefectures of Chiba, Kanagawa, and Shizuoka. Estimated casualties totaled about 142,800 deaths, including about 40,000 who went missing and were presumed dead.
The stamp design shows remains of the Ryounkaku in the Asakusa district of Tokyo, with a background of the city after destruction.

Flood Relief
November 15, 1969
A cyclonic storm over the central Mediterranean in September 1969 produced heavy and prolonged rains which devastated Tunisia and northern Algeria. The floods killed 600 people, destroyed homes, farmland, livestock, phosphate mines, and Roman architecture.
The two semipostal stamps depict destructed homes and rescue efforts.

The Anniversary of the Kashmir Earthquake
October 8, 2006
The 2005 Kashmir earthquake occurred at 08:50:39 local time on October 8 in the Pakistani territory of Azad Kashmir. The magnitude 7.6 earthquake killed ca. 80,000 people and destroyed ca. 32,000 buildings, mostly in the Muzaffarabad area. At least 1,350 people were killed and 6,266 injured in Jammu and Kashmir state in India.

Earthquake of February 4, 1976
June 4, 1976
The 1976 Guatemala Earthquake (magnitude 7.5) struck in the early morning on February 4. The shock was centered on the Motagua Fault, about 160 km northeast of Guatemala City at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Most adobe type houses in the area were destroyed.
The stamp set (12 stamps and 2 souvenir sheets) depicts damage and reconstruction, with description of the disaster and gratitude to the support from the world.

The 25th Anniversary of Managua Earthquake
December 23, 1998
The 1972 Nicaragua earthquake (magnitude 6.2) occurred at 12:29 a.m. local time on Saturday, December 23 near Managua. The commemorative stamps shows the modern Managua and the damaged buildings in 1972.

50th Anniversary of the Rebuilding of the City of Agadir
February 28, 2010
The stamp commemorates the 1960 Agadir earthquake and the rebuilding of the city. The magnitude 5.7 earthquake killed and injured 25000 people and left 35000 people homeless. Much of the city was destroyed due to poor construction.
