I am posting this nice stamp I recently acquired from an auction. To my surprise, I found a few interesting marks that were not identified by the seller. They are Line in V. and markings in the N and A of Canada. I submitted to Mr. Trimble for his expertise but I thought I'd share on the Forum. Comments welcome.

Unitrade mentions 63i as "reentry in POSTA and mark in the left slant of the large central V (pos 19)". You seem to have the mark, but you may want to check your POSTA.

That was my initial thoughts, but the marks in the letters are in NA instead of Postage shown in the Unitrade. The large mark in the V seems to match the Unitrade, but that I why I am also asking "The" expert advice.

The marks are interesting, but do not look like a re-entry; more like some plate scratches/damage.

Are these the only marks on the stamp?

Most re entries on jubilees fall in the same place as mentioned in unitrade. This looks possibly like a misplaced entry . If it were a plate scratch it would likely be noted since there were not millions of these printed. All my high dollars are so roller smudge cancelled I could never tell but I have 1 of each at least. I'd definatley send ralph a 1200dpi scan and await his response. Are there any other marks elsewhere on the stamp?

Gilles le timbre...What I think you really got there is a classic example of an "ink pull" and not a re-entry, but lets see what Ralph thinks.

The N and A are what makes me wonder about a misplaced type entry. Can you do a high res full scan .

I agree it could be a misplaced entry.

Not an ink pull, they tend to be ragged and should be connected to the main image somewhere. They typically go in one main direction.

News from Mr. Trimble is that it is a re-entry and should be posted on the re-entry site soon, alongside with a "proof" confirming the re-entry. not sure if the position can be identified yet, but I'll ask Ralph to see if his proof sheet scan can identify it
