One has to wonder if this is going to be a "scoop" about some of the rumored 2015 stamps that have yet to be announced: Elvis, perhaps?

She also hinted that her report might reveal some breaking stamp news, but she wouldn't give away her scoop.

I like the "CBS Sunday Morning News" program. I typically refer to it as the "softer, gentler, news."

As a regular viewer, it seems unlikely to me there will be anything resembling a "SCOOP"

It should be the piece with Bill Gross and the youth group at the Collectors Club that I volunteer for, among several other things.

That one was actually done later than this one coming up, this was originally to be the only piece done. Someone showed up a few weeks later to do the other one. Supposedly this will be a much longer piece.

I just went to the website for CBS Sunday Morning and they have a flashback video up now of the release of the Elvis stamp from 1993. It shows fans waiting in long lines to buy the stamp, etc. Watch it and you'll understand why the USPS would love to put more pop celebrities on stamps.

I thought it was well done and touched on a lot of different facets of the hobby without getting too geeky into some of the more arcane (to outsiders) practices of stamp collecting. It would be interesting to know if anyone was inspired to start or resume collecting as a result of watching it.

While any publicity about stamp collecting is good for the hobby, the publicity wouldn't be complete without some mention of the recent "disaster" surrounding the USPS "giving away" three Right Side Up Jenny Souvenir Sheets. It's mentioned in this CBS news commentary:

Fine time to be complaining now. Complaining not that the sheets were printed at all to create a fake rarity, but only that some were given away after his binge. Anyone who spends $41,000 in an attempt to find one should not be complaining because someone got lucky. My only curiosity is in how the winners were picked, was it truly random or not, since the USPS has not shown itself to be completely trustworthy.

As I recall, there was an indication that something previously unknown (presumably about the 2015 stamp program) might be made public during the program. While I watched it only once, I do not recall hearing any newsworthy tidbit. Did I miss something?
