95% of my stamp communications is done online, since none of my in-person friends collect stamps. And I realized that I have never had to say the word out loud. Is there a pronunciation guide for common philatelic terms somewhere?

I know what you mean. I only recently learned the correct pronunciation of philately. So remember that when I tell you how I pronounce se-tenant.
I pronounce "tenant" in the normal way (like the tenant of a building).
The uncertain part is the "se". I see three possibilities: "see," "say," and "seh." I pronounce it "seh." But only place my odds at being right at 1 in 3.
Edit: While composing, wert posted. If he's right, I am completely wrong, even on the "tenant." It did not occur to me to pronounce it like a Frenchman. Quelle horreur! |

Since I don't speak French, I'm at a loss.
Tete-beche is another one I'm curious if I am getting right. |

but I have not heard it pronounced by a french speaker yet. |

Both audio pronunciation are wrong , in French the "T" is silent at the end, it's like the "e" in tomate and patate, English people always pronounce them tomaté and potaté. The E is silent
"suh-tuh-nahn"..." is close enough , alltrue it will sounf like French from France, here in Quebec it will be a little bit fifferent

Harumph! I don't like that the pronunciation in my head was wrong and I don't care for the correct one. I think I might have to come up with a new term of my own. I ran "se tenant stamps" through an anagram generator in an attempt to come up with some possibilities. I'm not sure whether to pick "Satan temps nest", "tenants stamp set", "man tests patents", or "sanest stamp tent". |

Pronounce it any way you want to. 99.99% of the world won't know what you are talking about anyway!
