Well, I guess that clears part of the question? My only remaining question for the time being is, how do unemployment stamps fit into wrapping them around liquor bottles??

OK wert, but, those are specifically 'liquor stamps', and US ones as well and not employment ones. This is baffling to me as well.

The stamps I scanned from one of my revenue bulletins, I can understand being wrapped around a bottle of liquor, but, not employment stamps.

Sorry to add to the confusion.

Bujutsu...I would imagine they were wrapped around the bottle in Canada as shown on the American bottles..I remember when my Dad went on a plane and bought those one ounce bottles for refreshments, that they had one of those stickers on them as I can remember..But ya..Got to get to the bottom of the bottle sort of speaking..

OK wert, but please do not misunderstand me. I believe you and I know they were wrapped around the liquor bottles, but what is still a mystery to me is - - -why unemployment stamps were used??

I know in Ontario there were unemployment stamps that were affixed to an employee's booklet. If unemployed at a later date, the number of stamps in his / her book would determine the amount of unemployment assistance that person would receive. I do not ever recall seeing one of these stamps around a liquor bottle though.

I hope I my situation clearly?

This should answer your question:

Quote:
Unemployment stamps were affixed to wrappers that enclosed bottles of liquor. The monies raised by this tax were designated for the relief of unemployed individuals."
