Here is what somebody did to this nice R27C, trimmed it to make it appear to be a R27B. I've lined with the Kiusalas Gauge with three perf indents still showing.

In addition there is a Double Transfer on the "S" of US.

R27 comes with many Double Transfers, and this Double Transfer is in southern orientation!

There is a minor mark in the "N" of Exchange, but I can't tell for sure if it is right and proper connection with this Double Transfer!

Cheers

Hear we go again, another senior moment, the top of my original posting should have read R27C trimmed to appear like an R27B!

But most people would have realized my mistake and not even been concerned about it, I've seen this happen to other people, but consider it just plain good manners not to mention it!

Cheers

I think there's a way for the original poster to edit the title of the thread, but I'm not sure how it's done. Maybe someone will notice this and chime in.

rustyc, I received an email message this morning, about my original posting, but the email message did not make any sense to me, no matter how many times I read it. But this made me think I'd better check my original posting, I did it again!

I see no reason to edit my original posting, as it is already out there, and has been for some time, best way is to do just what I did and make another posting with the correction!

Hope other members like the double transfer, especially with the orientation, right and proper southern shift. Most double transfers I've encountered on R27's have mostly been westward.

Do you have any special R27's with interesting double transfers, would like to see!

Cheers

That doesn't loke like a DT to me, just an inking anomaly.

There are a myriad of R27 positions with DTs. The images below are high resolution, so you probably want to click on the images to view them at full size.

Here is a dramatic example:

And a different one:

And another:

Interesting things going on with the bottom numerals:

And in this one:

Hi Dave. To change the TITLE of your thread, I think you just edit your very first post. I think that this can only be done within 24 hours, so if you want something changed after that, you have to have the forum moderators do it. Good luck.

There is at least one bigger DT as well.

I am new to seriously collecting first issue revenues so I have a lot of questions. How did you detect that this stamp was cut down? I am not sure how the Gauge played into your determinination of the trimming.

I believe the original poster was relying on the presence of partial perforations, indicated by the arrows, as evidence that perforations previously present had been cut off. He thought he was seeing tiny half moon shapes at the trimmed edge at top.

Thanks for the info about the partial perforations. I failed to see the arrows when I read the post.

There are hints of perfs, plus the margins are too small and too uneven. I also agree that it is not a DT, just a minor inking anomaly.
